PLC 2000 Communication System

Iskra has been a successful manufacturer of PLC equipment for several decades now. Indeed, our first venture into the development and production of such devices dates back to 1949. The development of the PLC 2000 System was based on our rich experience in PLC communications, on the high concentration of appropriate expertise and on our familiarity with modern technology. Iskra Sistemi manufacturers a number of different devices designed to cover the various telecommunication services needed for the effective operation of a power network. These include PLC equipment, AF access terminal, teleprotection equipment and narrowband FSK modem (duplex TG channel).

PLC2000 :: PLC2000

All PLC 2000 devices are specifically customised for each individual user. To this end, Iskra Sistemi has developed a family of devices with the family name PLC 2000 Communication System, which incorporates all the following types of devices:

  • ET8 PLC equipment
  • NF8 AF access terminal
  • DZ8 teleprotection signalling equipment
  • TG8 narrowband FSK modem (duplex TG channel)

The PLC 2000 Family of Devices

The PLC 2000 Communication System is, therefore, the platform on which the design of all the devices is based. Several factors, which determine characteristics of all devices in the PLC 2000 system, are uniformly realized on the PLC 2000 system level, namely:

  • mechanical construction
  • power supply system
  • control system for functionality control (central processing unit - CPU) – centralized system for data acquisition and presentation as well as for alarm processing and presentation
  • parameterizing and supervision system
  • man-machine interface MMI (physical layer of MMI on two levels: built-in MMI console and PC)

Such uniformity of many segments, which gives the same characteristic to all devices of the PLC 2000 system, brings to the user certain advantages:

  • easy handling of all devices of the PLC 2000 system

Much of the experience, gained in studying one PLC 2000 device can be applied to other devices within the system, making it easier to train maintenance engineers.

  • immediate implementation of all improvements of uniform segments to all devices, members of the PLC 2000 system

Development is a permanent process at Iskra Sistemi. Because of this uniformity each improvement made to any particular element can easily be applied to all other segments in the PLC 2000 Communication system.

  • uniformity of hardware

Much of the hardware of the PLC 2000 System is standardized (power supply units, central processing unit, MMI console, certain DSP units). This reduces the need for parts and simplifies maintenance.
