By the end of 2010 Iskra Sistemi requested RIPE, European IP address space coordinator, to obtain a provider independent IPv6 address space of size /48. This is a huge number (1.208.925.819.614.629.174.706.176) of addresses as IPv6 provides extreme addressing capabilities. RIPE has approved the requested address space in January 2011. Iskra Sistemi has agreed with two Internet operators to use their IPv6 networks to connect to the global IPv6 Internet using BGPv6 protocol.
After the optical fibers have been installed and BGPv6 has been established with Internet providers, Iskra Sistemi experts from IP group enabled IPv6 on all external servers and established IPv6 network services for DNS, WWW, MAIL (SMTP) and FTP. The services have been launched on March 22nd.
In addition, the internal Iskra Sistemi network has been upgraded to IPv6 as well. Several departments have already switched to using IPv6 on client workstations, reaching internal as well as global IPv6 services.
As a member of Slovenian Go6 community Iskra is an early adopter of IPv6 in Slovenia and works close hand in hand with the customers to bring IPv6 into everyday life in business and industrial environments.

When reached over IPv6 from a client workstation, client's IPv6 address can be seen on the homepage as indicated.
