The deregulated natural gas and electricity market demands that transmission and distribution system operators enable free access to network transfer capacities. They must continually monitor actual quantity of gas in the network as well as forecasts of supply and demand. Based on gathered data, they create short- and medium term transport plans that must fulfill market demands and satisfy transport limitations. The operators are faced by both physical and commercial constraints. On the system side, there are technical minimum and maximum limits; while on the commercial side; there are supply and demand limits that can change substantially in the times of increased price dynamics of energy products.
